Analytics tag checker
See which analytics tools, tag managers and ad pixels a website loads, with duplicate tags, retired Universal Analytics code and other tracking problems flagged. Free, no signup.
What it checks
The checker loads the page the way a browser first receives it and looks for the scripts of about 25 tools: Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, the Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, Reddit and Microsoft Ads pixels, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, FullStory, Plausible, Fathom, Simple Analytics, Umami, Matomo, PostHog, Mixpanel, Segment, Amplitude, Heap, Cloudflare and Vercel Web Analytics, and measuremy.site.
Problems it flags
- Duplicate tags. The same script loaded twice, or
gtag('config')run twice for one ID, counts every pageview twice and halves your bounce rate. - GA4 loaded directly and through Tag Manager. A common cause of double counting after a migration.
- Retired Universal Analytics.
UA-properties stopped collecting in July 2024; the code is dead weight. - Several IDs for one tool. Often a leftover from an old property.
- No analytics at all. Worth knowing before you trust a dashboard that says traffic fell to zero.
What it can't see
Tags that Google Tag Manager or a consent banner adds after the page loads aren't in the first HTML, so they won't show up here. To check those, open your browser's developer tools on the Network tab and filter by the tool's domain.
Questions
Is this like BuiltWith or Wappalyzer?
It's narrower: it only looks for analytics, tag managers, session replay and ad pixels, and it tells you when they're set up wrong, not just that they're there.
Why does it say GA4 is missing when I know it's installed?
Your GA4 tag is probably added by Google Tag Manager or loaded after a cookie banner is accepted. The checker reads the page's HTML and doesn't run its JavaScript.
How do I fix a duplicate tag?
Search your theme, plugins and Tag Manager for the ID the checker shows, and keep one copy. WordPress sites often have it in both a plugin and the theme header.
Do you store the sites I check?
No. The page is fetched once to look for tags and nothing is saved.
