What UTM tags do
UTM parameters are labels added to the end of a link. When someone clicks it, analytics tools read them and credit the visit to the source, medium and campaign you named. Without them, a post on Reddit or in a newsletter often shows up as "direct" or a generic referrer.
How to name things
- Source: the place you shared it, like
redditornewsletter. - Medium: the kind of channel, like
social,emailorcpc. - Campaign: the push it belongs to, like
launch-week.
Keep names lowercase and consistent. "Reddit" and "reddit" are counted as different values by many tools; this builder lowercases them for you.

Do UTM links work with any analytics tool?
Yes. UTM parameters are a convention that nearly every analytics tool reads, including Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom and agentlytics.
Does the builder send my links anywhere?

Is it a problem if I tag internal links?
